Originating from Central and South America's wetlands, this striking tree-like plant boasts glossy leaves and a distinctive plaited stem. As a popular houseplant, Pachira aquatica thrives indoors, and while its tropical counterpart can reach towering heights of 20m or more, expect a more modest stature in a pot. Primarily grown for its interesting stem and bright green leaves, mature specimens dazzle with cream flowers spanning 30cm, complemented by over 200 gold and crimson stamens, leading to the formation of fruit housing up to 25 nuts.Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative).
