Overview

Enormous, rose pink, fragrant, double summer flowers and mid-green leaves. This magnificent, late-flowering, pale pink peony has been popular since the Edwardian era, and named after the French actress of the time. An excellent specimen plant for a partially sunny border, it makes up a classic summery staple of cottage, and mixed border gardens. This Paeonia has been field grown, however in order to keep the roots hydrated and promote fresh new growth, we have potted them up. Therefore, your plant may not have a well developed root system depending on the time of year. This is perfectly normal so you should not worry if the soil falls away when you are planting it out.

Care guide

Plant out into well-prepared soil as soon as soon as you are able and conditions allow in soil that is not waterlogged or frozen, making sure that the highest bud on the crown is no deeper that 5cm below the surface of the soil. Keep well fed and watered, and remove spent flowers after they have faded. In each subsequent spring, apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser around the base of the plant and lightly mulch with well-rotted compost or manure, avoiding burying the crown too deeply. The flowers and foliage may need staking in exposed locations.

Pots and Packaging
Bare root plants are either wrapped in plastic bags or waxed paper where possible and then placed into a cardboard box.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
