Overview

With its captivating raspberry-veined pink flowers and deep burgundy throat, Designer Starburst Cherry' adds an enchanting touch to long season displays. Beyond its visual appeal, this petunia demonstrates remarkable resilience against cold snaps and mildew, making it a durable choice for variable UK summers. From late spring to the first frosts, it cascades a lush and free-flowering habit, transforming hanging baskets, containers, and window boxes into vibrant showcases. Please note that the hanging basket in the photograph is not supplied with the plants (which are sent out in a simple nursery alternative)

  • Soil: moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil,or general-purpose potting compost for containers
  • Rate of growth: average to fast
  • Flowering period: May to October
  • Hardiness: tender (will need frost protection)

Care guide

Pot up cuttings and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can then either be planted outside into a well-prepared bed, or used to fill decorative pots and hanging baskets for the patio (9cm plants don’t need potting on but require initial frost protection). Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feeding with a high-poTash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer will promote even moreflowers to form.
