Overview

Large, highly scented semi-double flowers open white and become pink-flushed later in the spring. The award-winning 'Shizuka' is a medium, vase-shaped, deciduous tree with bronze-coloured spring foliage that turns mid-green in midsummer and then orange in the autumn.

Care guide

Plant 'Shizuka' as soon as conditions allow (avoiding frozen and waterlogged soil). Choose a sheltered spot to protect emerging blossom. Incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake and support firmly. Prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker. Cut back any dead, diseased or crossing branches.

Pots and Packaging
Bare root plants are either wrapped in plastic bags or waxed paper where possible and then placed into a cardboard box.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
