Overview

Thriving as a marginal aquatic perennial, this plant boasts distinctive arrow-shaped leaves, typically measuring up to 30cm (12in) in length, and showcases racemes of whorled white flowers, each approximately 4cm (1.5in) across, emerging in the summer months. Ideal for shallow water pond environments and reliably boggy soils, Sagittaria latifolia adds both visual interest and structural foliage with its long-petioled, emergent leaves resembling arrowheads. Found primarily in marshes and boggy habitats, this plant serves as an excellent choice for adding depth and texture to other water plants and water features.

Care guide

To ensure long term success, plant approximately one inch into the pond soil up to a water depth of 20cm (8in), or reliably boggy soil to ensure the roots do not dry out. This plant requires minimal maintenance, with trimming necessary only after foliage has died back in autumn to maintain a tidy appearance.
