Overview

The single, rich purple-red flowers of this rare lilac have a distict white edge to each petal, creating a beautiful bi-colour effect. They are highly fragrant and appear in great trusses in late spring when they will fill the air with their sweet scent. Ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens, these much-loved shrubs can also be trained to form small trees.

Care guide

In mid-summer remove the faded flower heads carefully using secateurs to avoid damaging the young shoots. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
