Monstera Plants

Monstera Plants

Monstera plants are one of the most iconic plants in the house plant world. With their emerald green, perforated leaves, they are sure to make a characterful addition to any home! Aside from their lush foliage and easy to grow nature, Monstera plants have been voted by NASA as one of the best house plants for purifying the air too. Depending on the look you wish to achieve, they can be trained up a moss pole, or left to spread out naturally for a burgeoning display of foliage.

Monstera FAQs

  • Is Monstera a good indoor plant?

In its natural environment, the Monstera would be in a tropical rainforest! It thrives in warm, humid environments, so it stands to reason that they make for excellent indoor plants.

Monsteras prefer plenty of shade, warmth and moisture, so keeping your monstera in a humid room such as a bathroom or kitchen can ensure a happy and healthy Monstera plant.

  • How do you care for a Monstera plant?

While Monsteras do prefer humid environments, you should never allow them to sit in soggy soil. Be mindful not to overwater a Monstera – the soil should be about 75% dry before you water it again. Overwatering can lead to root rot which will eventually kill your Monstera!

Make sure to keep your Monstera out of direct sunlight too – especially for extended periods of time. Monstera leaves are sensitive to sunlight and can actually burn if left out in direct sunlight! Find a nice shady spot for your Monstera where the sun won’t shine on it directly.

  • Should I mist my Monstera?

Misting is the best way to keep your Monstera humid without overwatering. Keep an eye on how damp the soil is and only rewater once it’s dried out by about 75%. Otherwise, frequently mist the leaves of your Monstera to prevent them from drying out.
