Overview

A prolific, pink-flowering, hardy, dwarf penstemon perennial with dark foliage. Not only hardy, 'Dakota Burgundy' is also remarkably frost tolerant. Beautiful crimson-bronze foliage matures to dark green on this compact and dwarf perennial setting the stage for the prolific lavender-pink 'foxglove-like' trumpets that smother the plant from midsummer. Avoid waterlogged conditions over winter and look forward year-on-year to predictable penstemon perfection!

Care guide

Plant 'Dakota Burgundy' with a handful of well-rotted compost or manure in the planting hole. Remove the faded blooms regularly to prolong flowering. Cut back and compost the spent flower stems in autumn and apply a dry mulch around the crown of the plant to protect against frost damage.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
