Overview

Few flowers have a more exotic fragrance than these. They appear in mid summer and autumn abover the glossy, dark green leaves and fill the air with their heady scent. This is a hardier type than most, so it can survive outside in milder winters in sheltered gardens, but will need protection in colder parts of the country.

Care guide

Grow 'Kleim's Hardy' outdoors in a warm, sheltered position, either in borders or containers in moist but well-drained, acid or neutral soil in partial or light dappled shade. Water regularly, ideally with rainwater, until fully established. Tap water contains lime and over time, reduces the soil acidity. If watering with tap water, we advise a regular application of sequestered iron or sulphur chips to the pot compost or soil to boost the soil acidity. Alternatively, grow under glass in lime-free compost in bright, filtered light with high humidity.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
