Overview

Graceful clumps of dark-green, 'Blue Ice' has willowy foliage and slender stems with slate-blue buds that emerge in May. Star-shaped blooms open and remain in flower through to July. In autumn, its narrow, linear foliage turns golden yellow providing an additional season of interest. Deer and rabbit resistant and great as a cut flower, this Amsonia is a superb garden performer.

Care guide

When planting 'Blue Ice' incorporate some well-rotted compost or manure and mycorrizal fungi into the planting hole. If the plants are starting to look floppy after they have flowered, they can be cut back to new basal foliage. Alternatively, they can be givven a lighter trim, cutting them back to form neat domes. Once established, lift and divide in spring or autumn.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
