A lovely, slow-growing, medium-sized tree, this maple is grown not only for its decorative bark, but also for its autumn foliage colour. The bark is the colour of cinnamon, and peels away naturally in thin layers, hence this tree's common name, paper bark. The leaves are deeply cut and maple-like, and turn brilliant shades of orange and scarlet in autumn. This tree has been grown to encourage a bushy, multi-stemmed habit.
