Overview

The sumptuous 'Enchanted Velvet Flame' from the enchanted series is a maroon-red coneflower, up to 10cm (4") in diameter, with a bold purple-brown 'cone', speckled with yellow stamens. Flowering from July to October, the nectar-rich blooms are a magnet for pollinating insects. Best grown as a half-hardy annual, pop these in pots on your patio for a striking late summer display!

Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed when they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed. Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feed with a high potash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer. Feed weekly with seaweed extract during the growing season. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
