Overview

An early flowering tulip that comes back every year. Producing up to four flowers on each stem, this gorgeous species tulip is often one of the first into bloom, so it's a great way to kick off the season. Being reliably perennial, it comes back year after year, so it's ideal for eatablishing through a naturalised planting scheme, or filling early gaps at the front of the border.

Care guide

From September to December plant bulbs 10cm deep and 10-15cm apart in fertile, well-drained soil. Alternatively, allow 7-9 bulbs per 30cm sq. While actively growing, keep them moderately well watered and remove the flowers after they have faded. At that stage a balanced liquid fertiliser can be applied each week for 4 weeks before they die down.
