Overview

Intense blue flowers. This towering beauty produces its clear blue flowers over a couple of months from midsummer - so it's perfect for adding soft, unstructured height and colour to the back of the border. As its common name suggests, it is happiest in soils that are reliably moist but not waterlogged, and it prefers a sunny spot. The flowers mix well with most pinks, purples and plums, and they are also sought after by bees and butterflies.

Care guide

To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon as they start to fade. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
