Overview

Golden Eye Improved' is a short-lived perennial plant that is typically grown as an annual for seasonal summer displays. It has a striking appearance, with creamy ivory-white petals that feature a bright splash of egg-yolk yellow at their base, and a bright yellow centre to match. The flowers are both fragrant and profuse, covering the plant's feathery mid-green to dark green foliage throughout the summer and into early autumn. Although it has a semi-trailing habit, this plant can be encouraged to grow into a more compact, bushy form by pinching it out when young.

  • Garden care: Deadheading regularly will prolong the flowering season - as will feeding with a high potash fertiliser from late spring to midsummer. Apply an insulating layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in autumn, or move potted plants to a sheltered spot for winter. Avoid excessively wet conditions in winter.

    Pots and Packaging
    Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

    Preparation
    The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
