Bright red stems make this deciduous shrub a standout feature, particularly in winter when its colour intensifies. In spring and summer, clusters of small cream flowers emerge among dark green leaves, followed by ornamental blue-white berries in autumn. The foliage turns rich shades of plum before falling, revealing the striking winter stems.
Cornus alba 'Baton Rouge' thrives in full sun, and is arguably the best cultivar for red stem colour, working well in mixed borders, waterside plantings, or massed for impact.
