Plant description

In early spring, clusters of pretty, dark pink flower buds open up to pale pink to white, nodding bell-like flowers resembling lily-of-the-valley. An acid lover, 'Bonfire' can be grown in a large pot filled with ericaceous compost if your soil is not suitable. This compact, evergreen pieris looks wonderful smouldering in a shady shrub border with well-drained acid soil, or a courtyard garden.

Care guide

Add composted pine needles or ericaceous compost when planting and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of composted pine needles or bark each year around the base of the plant in early spring. Remove the faded flower-heads in late spring along with any frost-damaged foliage.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
