Overview

A red-flowering, highly scented sweet pea. Position: full sun Soil: fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast Flowering period: June to September Hardiness: hardy annual Dark crimson red, wavy-edged, velvety blooms with superb scent smother this nitrogen-fixing annual from June to August. 'Winston Churchill' is a Spencer-type sweet pea, perfect for training up an obelisk or trellis in the garden. The large flowers, carried on strong stems of a good length, are well suited for cutting. Garden care: Before planting out, incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter in the planting hole. Apply a balanced liquid plant food every two weeks while in growth and deadhead regulary to encourage more flowers.
