What causes rodent or insect infestations?

Pest problems in the home are rarely directly your fault, but there are many preventative measures you can take to reduce the risk.

Keeping things clean, making sure food isn’t left lying around, and generally tidying up will help. It’s also important to reduce build ups of moisture and settled water that can attract pests. Unclogging gutters and draining decorative pools regularly is a good way to deal with this.

Insects and rodents will often try to make their way inside during the winter, to make the most of the heat. So be vigilant during the colder months - make sure any draughts by windows and doors are sealed up, and any holes in the walls or insulation are blocked.

What is an Ultrasonic Repeller?

Modern technology can make ridding your home and garden of pests a breeze. Ultrasonic sound waves are high pitched noises that are beyond the range of hearing for humans and most pets, but deter other animals. They can be used to keep larger creatures such as foxes and deers out of your garden, or crawling insects from your house. Ultrasonic waves won’t pass through solid objects, so some repellers combine them with electromagnetic waves to rid the whole house of insects. These plug in devices send electric pulses through the wiring to upset the nervous systems of spiders and other bugs, causing them to leave.

Should I use traps on my rodent problem?

There are generally two types of traps: those to kill and those to capture. They are particularly useful against rodents and other garden pests like rabbits, squirrels and moles. It is important to be aware of the laws around trapping certain kinds of animals, regularly inspecting cages and dealing with caught creatures. So be sure to read up on traps and snares in your local area before use.
