Rattan, a material made from climbing plants found naturally growing on trees, is the traditional material used for wicker - a technique of weaving and bending materials into structures which stretches back all the way to ancient Egypt. Nowadays, wicker can also be made from plastic, which is significantly more durable but a less natural product. Available as wall planters or hanging baskets, or even a trough planter!
