Overview

This is a great plant for creating year-round interest. The handsomely lobed foliage emerges a soft lime green before turning fresh green for summer. In autumn the leaves then turn vibrant shades of orange and red before they are shed. After the last leaf has fallen, the silhouette of the bright green bare stems really stands out - particularly if it is placed in front of a contrasting backdrop. It's a great choice for smaller gardens or large patio pots. Please note that some of our pictures show this plant alongside two other acers - 'Bi Ho' with the yellow bark and 'Sango-kaku' with the red bark.

Care guide

Add a top dressing of a multi-purpose fertiliser around the base of the plant in late spring. No routine pruning is required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when they are fully dormant.

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
