Overview

Stunning deep-purple, almost black tubular flowers forming a globe above stout green stems, 'Black Jack' is a wonderful perennial suited to bold plantings within borders or as a specimen in a container. Bred by South African plant breeders De Wet, these eye-catching African lilies are hardier than most and offer a longer flowering performance from mid-summer onwards.

Care guide

Keep well-watered during the growing season, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month from spring until the plant flowers. Towards the end of September cut back on the watering and feeding to allow the foliage to toughen up, and in cold, exposed areas protect the crown of the plant with a deep, dry winter mulch.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
