Overview

Intensely coloured violet blue sepals. Intensely coloured violet blue sepals, that provide a vibrant contrast to the yellow stamens, form slightly nodding or outward-facing flowers on stiff, upright stems. This aquilegia looks very effective when planted next to silver foliage, and the flowers will last well in cut arrangements.

Care guide

Lift and divide large clumps in early spring and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost around the plant. Divided specimens may take some time to establish since they don't like having their roots disturbed.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
