Overview

Emerging each spring a fresh chartreuse-yellow, the foliage soon develops contrasting deep crimson tips, and as the season progresses the colours become richer - particularly when grown in full sun. In smaller gardens, Hakonechloa Sunflare is a great grass for a pot, but if there is room, try planting it in generous drifts - or use it to line the edges of a path for a jaw-dropping display.

Care guide

Incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost into the planting hole. Leave flower heads to dry out through the winter, adding valuable texture to plantings. Apply a light mulch (3cm) of well-rotted garden compost after cutting back old foliage and before new growth emerges in spring.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
