Overview

An excellent oxygenating plant, 'Red Stem' has vivid red stems and feathery, green whorls of foliage. From the Latin 'myrio' meaning too many to count and 'phyllum' meaning leavesé–you get the gist! Perfect for smaller ponds and bog gardens, parrot's feather is well suited to areas of full sun or partial shade. Tiny yellow flowers may be borne on the emergent leaf axils from June until August. Please note that this red-stemmed species of Parrot's Feather (Myriophyllum brasiliensis) is the non-invasive form and is available for sale under UK law.

Care guide

Plant up into small baskets of aquatic soil with a thin covering of pea gravel to discourage clouding of the water. Leaves growing on the surface of the water are shorter and stiffer than those below; the underwater leaves provide shelter for small aquatic life. Trim off decaying foliage. Re-pot as required.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
