Petunia Plants FAQs

  • Do petunias need sun or shade?

When beautifying your garden, you want to make sure you can bring your plants to life and have them thrive in the best possible place. Petunias do best in full sun where they get at least six hours of sunlight a day. Light shade is ideal on hot and sunny days, however, they will wither if they don't get enough sunlight.

  •   Do petunias come back every year?

Petunias are perennial plants so they grow back every year. To care for them over winter, make sure you protect them against frost by moving them to a warmer area, however, just make sure you don't place them somewhere too warm where the plant is shocked and their leaves drop.

  • What month is best to plant petunias?

Like most bedding plants, you can plant yours from early spring to autumn. Avoid planting them when the soil is too cold and hard, like in winter, as petunias are tender to cold and frost and won't tolerate this sort of weather.

  •   How often should I water petunias?

Watering your petunia plant once a week with deep watering is recommended for your flowers to thrive. Make sure the soil has dried between watering and has good drainage and rich soil.
