Overview

A shade-loving, crinkled, hardy evergreen fern. Each spring, fresh new frilly edged, strap-shaped fronds unfurl above the existing foliage, creating upright 'crinkled' clumps, which look super when grown in naturalised clusters. It's a useful fern for adding vertical interest towards the front of a partially shaded border, or for edging in a moist woodland garden. Handsome and decorative, 'Cristata' is a compact, evergreen native fern that will genuinely thrive in deep shade.

Care guide

Plant into soil that has been improved with organic matter and water regularly during the growing season. Do not allow the soil or compost to dry out until the plant has become established. Tatty or damaged fronds can be removed in early spring as or just before the new growth emerges.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
