Overview

A colourful plant for watersides, pond banks and woodland borders where the soil remains slightly moist, this clump forming perennial produces tall spikes of reddish-purple star shaped summer flowers. A relatively fast-grower, the flowers are also rich in nectar, so are popular with the pollinators.

Specifications

  • Soil: fertile, deep, moist soil
  • Depth of water 0-5cm
  • Rate of growth: fast
  • Flowering period: June to August
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Care guide

Plant out in reliably moist soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond. Cut back flowers and foliage as they fade.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
