Overview

With the introduction of the dessert plum 'River's Early' in the 1830's, grower Thomas Rivers extended the fruit season, enabling British growers to compete with European rivals. Stunning white, scented blossom appears in the spring, followed by good quality, small, bluish-purple fruits with a lavender bloom. The flesh is golden yellow, rather firm, juicy, sweet and of good flavour - perfect for crumbles and pies!

Care guide

Plant out as soon as possible and keep well watered until established. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.

Pots and Packaging
Bare root plants are either wrapped in plastic bags or waxed paper where possible and then placed into a cardboard box.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
