Overview

Perfect for a short-term, table-top Christmas tree, this conifer may not come as a perfect pyramid, but it has bundles of rustic charm and looks fab when adorned with decorations, lights or tinsel. Try to keep it in a cool, bright room and move it outside as soon as possible after Christmas, so you can enjoy it for the rest of the year. It is currently around 40cm tall (including the pot grown in) and has beautiful, blue-green, aromatic, needle-like leaves. The glossy white pot measures 13cm round.

This mini Christmas tree comes planted in a nursery pot that can be lifted from the white pot cover for the purposes of watering and draining before being replaced. The pot cover doesn't have any drainage holes in the bottom so it can be placed directly onto a table without having to worry about leaking water.

This conifer is a slow-growing, broadly conical evergreen that will make an excellent specimen tree for a small, sunny garden if planted out after Christmas. As it matures it will produce oval, green summer cones that will age to brown. If you choose to keep it in a pot, then transfer it into something larger filled with ericaceous compost.

Care guide

Picea glauca 'Conica', is a popular evergreen conifer admired for its compact, conical shape and soft, bluish-green needles. To ensure its health and longevity, Keep in a brightly lit location and plant out in full sun and well-drained, acidic soil (or pot up into ericaceous compost) if desired. If planting outside after a period indoors, harden off the plant in a well lit, cool but frost-free location (such as a porch) for several weeks, or place in a sheltered outdoor location for a few hours each day. Gradually increase the amount of time it spends outside over several days.
