Increase the chances of growing success in your garden by producing your own nutrient-rich compost. A Guttermate wormery is an excellent eco-friendly method of providing both compost and bio-rich plant food for use in your garden and around the home. It's a simple but effective method which uses the natural digestive system and feeding behaviour of worms to convert your kitchen food waste into valuable by-products.

The pack contains everything you need to get started making your own compost including some Tiger worms and a detailed guide for setting up. Once running the wormery requires nothing more than a top-up with your kitchen food waste. You'll be diverting waste away from landfill, saving money from further store-bought garden compost and plant food and the wormery itself is made from recycled plastic to help contribute to more sustainable trading and reduce reliance on single use plastics.

This four tray version of the de-luxe wormery can hold up to 62L so has the added benefit of allowing more time for composting on the lower trays.

Installation

How to use:

  1. Once set up the wormery harnesses the natural tendency of the worms as they travel upwards following the food, leaving the nutrient rich compost behind them in the trays below.
  2. The trays are stackable so that when one tray fills up another can be placed on top so the worms always have space to move into.
  3. After 6 months you will most likely be up to the third tray and at this point the bottom tray will be ready for harvesting.
  4. Simply remove the bottom-most tray to harvest the compost and you’ll have a spare tray ready to place back on the top to continue the process.
  5. You will also have a build-up of liquid feed in the sump tray which can be collected approximately 3-4 weeks after beginning the wormery and then checked on a weekly basis.
  6. The liquid food can be collected by simply using the supplied tap, from which it can be diluted into a watering can.
