How much clearance do I need for a ceiling patio heater?

Ceiling mounted patio heaters can become very hot, so it’s important to make sure that there's enough clearance between the heater and the ceiling you’re hanging it from so that no damage is caused. 

Typically, a 30cm drop is appropriate, but many of our ceiling mounted patio heaters offer longer drops than this for added safety. 

Where can I hang a ceiling mounted patio heater?

If you have a permanent outdoor structure (that isn’t contained), you may hang a patio heater from the ceiling of said structure. 

However, ceiling mounted patio heaters are also appropriate for hanging from the ceiling of semi-permanent structures such as tents and gazebos.

Are patio heaters safe under a roof?

There are certain patio heaters that are more compatible for use under a roof or canopy. While the patio heater will generate heat in a downwards direction, gas and propane heaters are more difficult to control and require a large ceiling clearance. 

Electric infrared heaters distribute heat sideways, making it safer to hang a ceiling mounted patio heater with a much smaller clearance.
