What do you need to install a water feature?

It’s important to keep your water feature clean if you want to prevent common issues such as algae. There are a few simple ways to keep your water feature clean, the first of which starts with installation.

Choosing the right size water pump for your pond goes a long way to maintaining the quality of the water. The full water volume of the feature should be circulated approximately once per hour – keeping the pump free of debris is the best way to ensure that this happens.

Once you have the right pond pump in place, make sure to spot-check your water feature for any debris lying on the surface. Removing debris by hand will ensure it doesn’t have time to start decaying in the water which often causes ammonia levels to spike in your pond.

Algae is the biggest concern for water features. Mixing in a cleaning product every few weeks should keep algae under control, but should it start to become a problem you can conduct a full clean by draining the feature, wiping it clean then refilling.

You can also use a water feature cover to protect and maintain your fountain, bird bath, waterfall or other feature.

How do you decorate a water feature?
